How To Treat Varicose Veins Quickly And Minimally
When varicose veins become painful, it’s important to treat them as they may lead to more serious conditions. However, if you have other priorities in life, it might be difficult to find time to see a vein specialist and have treatment done. Fortunately, modern procedures for treating varicose veins are quick and minimally invasive. Center For Advanced Vein Care can be done in a few office visits and have a significant impact on your quality of life.
The first step is to schedule an evaluation appointment with one of our vein specialists. During this appointment, we’ll perform a thorough exam, including ultrasound diagnostic tests to get a full understanding of your veins and symptoms. We’ll then curate a personalized VEIN CARE treatment plan just for you that includes the right procedures to address your needs.
Treatment options for varicose veins vary based on the size, location and severity of your veins. We offer a variety of minimally invasive and non-surgical treatments to effectively manage and eliminate your varicose veins, including:
During this procedure, we insert a thin tube (catheter) into an enlarged vein and use radiofrequency or laser energy to heat the inside of the vein. This causes the vein to close and redirects blood flow to healthy veins. We’ll numb the area of your leg before we begin and you can expect to experience only mild discomfort during treatment.
Sclerotherapy
Using a fine needle, your provider injects a liquid chemical (called sclerosant) into the varicose vein. This chemical irritates the inside of the vein, scarring it and causing it to close off. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the damaged vein and its appearance fades. This is a minimally invasive treatment that can be performed in our vein clinic.
Center For Advanced Vein Care is a form of sclerotherapy used to treat smaller varicose veins and spider veins. Your provider will inject a small amount of the liquid chemical into your varicose vein through a fine needle. You may feel a slight pinch or burning sensation when the needle is inserted. Your provider will usually test the injection site for a reaction to the chemicals before starting treatment.
Vein Surgery
For larger, deeper varicose veins, your doctor might recommend a surgical procedure called ligation and stripping. During this procedure, your provider will tie off and remove the varicose vein. This procedure can be less invasive than other surgeries, but you might need medicine to sedate you during the operation.
Home Varicose Vein Treatments
While treatment is the most effective way to eliminate varicose vein pain and prevent it from returning, there are also some simple things you can do at home to help manage your symptoms. Elevating your legs by raising them above your hips for short periods of time can promote proper blood flow, and avoiding tight clothing that restricts blood flow can help reduce your discomfort. Regularly massaging your feet and legs can also keep blood flowing properly and reduce the appearance of varicose veins.
